There’s a specific time during the year in which big moves are guaranteed to happen.
And those big moves mean there will be a lot of money changing hands almost each and every day. If you see it coming, this time is what I call, ’Jackpot Season!”
Let me explain the reason for ‘Jackpot Season,’ how to identify it, and what you and I can do to be on the receiving end of these big-money paydays…
Starting next week, we’re entering a time when companies are scheduled to release their earnings reports for the previous quarter. And although earnings season is normally a crapshoot of relatively random information that could push prices up OR down, this time around it’s different.
Why?
It looks like it could ugly across the board…
For starters, a strong U.S. dollar has been eroding international sales for multinational companies. Then add on the rough stretch for energy companies thanks to low oil prices. And top it all off with a slowing global economy, descending profit margins, and increasing labor costs.
Generated profits were already expected to drop nearly double digits, and now things have an even dimmer outlook.
But what does this mean for us?
As you may already know all too well, a surprise in the earnings report for any given company can easily result in a huge jump for the stock price of that company the next time trading opens.
A good earnings surprise usually means a jump up, and a bad earnings surprise usually means a jump down.
As investors, we have chance to get in on those stocks before the big jump. And when we can expect the vast majority of stocks – at least for energy and multinational companies – to tumble based on bad earnings reports, we can short those stocks and possibly make double-digit gains in a single day!
So when we have a good idea about which way most stocks will move when they report earnings, we can make the trades that stack up in our favor and make payday after payday.
